The counsellors

Kathy Sutherland

Hi, I’m Kathy. I work as a counsellor, counselling supervisor and as a nutritional therapist.

I have experience of working with people with many different issues. For example, loss of direction in your life, dealing with change, relationships, depression, anxiety, or lack of self esteem.

I have particular experience in working with people facing bereavement or loss and in working with people with relationship difficulties. I also have an interest in problems arising from birth and parenting, including when things don’t go to plan (eg the death of a child, difficulties with pregnancy, premature birth or miscarriage).

In addition to Cambridge Counselling Service, I work as a counsellor for CRUSE (the specialist bereavement service) and for BLISS (the service for premature babies and their parents). I see individuals and couples and one-off sessions are sometimes available with me. I also offer supervision to other counsellors.

I offer some appointments after 5pm, as well as appointments during office hours.

Mark Gawlinski

Hi, I’m Mark. I work as a counsellor, psychotherapist and coach. I am also the co-founder of Cambridge Counselling Service.

I am experienced in working with people facing a range of difficulties, including depression, anxiety and relationship problems  - and, whatever brings you to counselling or psychotherapy, I hope we will be able to work together to make a positive and real difference to your life. I have developed a particular interest in helping people with depression and - having worked as a senior lecturer at a university and a manager in technology companies - in working with people facing problems at work, including in academic, research and technology settings.

In my work, I try to be warm, authentic and pragmatic. I particularly advocate a relational approach to counselling, psychotherapy and coaching, that attends to our relationships, how we can get the best from them and how we can find resolution when they are not, or were not, as we hoped.

I offer appointments on most weekdays during the day and on some early evenings and early mornings.
