Louise Lowth

Hi, I’m Louise. I work as a counsellor and psychotherapist. I am also in the final stages of my doctoral research in counselling psychology.

My counselling work covers many different issues or problems – so please do get in touch whatever you are dealing with.

I have particular experience in anger management and in working with people who want to build their self-esteem and self-confidence.

In addition to Cambridge Counselling Service, I work for the NHS at the Lawrence Way Counselling Service, where I see individual clients and run a range of psychotherapy groups.

Louise Lowth – background

I previously worked as an Associate Counsellor for the Cambridge University Counselling Service and have worked as a counsellor in Cambridge for the last five years.

I’m an integrative relational counsellor, which means I believe that relationships are what makes us who we are and our experiences can be best understood within the context of our relationships. Counselling provides the setting of a professional and supportive relationship, and difficult emotions and experiences can be explored within this context. As a result of such exploration, you may find that you have greater understanding along with increased capacity for choice and autonomy.

I have a first degree in psychology, I am a qualified psychotherapist, I have diploma in teaching and I am in the final stages doctoral research in counselling psychology. I am also trained in facilitating psychotherapy groups and have trained to Master Practitioner level in Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP). I trained in psychotherapy at the renowned Metanoia Institute in London.

In terms of memberships, I am a member of the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) psychotherapy section and Member of the British Psychological Society (BPS).

I am bound by the UKCP’s ethical principles and code of professional conduct.

I am available for appointments on Thursday evenings and Monday evenings.
