Counsellor network

Cambridge Counselling Service is a member organisation for counsellors and therapists and we are always keen to hear from qualified and registered therapists who would like discuss joining our community.

There are three types of member in our network: full members, who use our counselling rooms near Stourbridge Common and receive client referrals if they want them, network members, who see clients we have referred to them either online or from their own homes or another office in Cambridge, and associate members, who are counsellors in the last stages of training who need practice hours in order to achieve accreditation or registration.

We offer full members the option of an allocation of room time that is paid for based on the fee each client pays – and we only ask for payment when and if a clients pays. Therefore, there is no charge when the member is on a break, doing CPD, for unused room time between clients or for periods when you are unable to see clients for any other reason (eg sickness). There is also the option of paying for room time on a more conventional room hire basis.

We also offer all members the option to take part in our community activities, which includes regular social events, training and knowledge sharing events, peer supervision groups and social media contact.

We ask that all our members are registered with one or more of the following organisations: UKCP (UK Council for Psychotherapy), BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy), BABCP (British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies), BPC (British Psychoanalytic Council), HCPC (The Health and Care Professions Council) or the BPS (British Psychological Society). Associate members need to be registered as a student member of one of these organisations and registered with a suitable training organisation.

We are currently most interested in speaking to potential network members and members who are qualified and experienced in seeing couples, children or adolescents in person in Cambridge or nearby (possibly at our office or at another office you already work at). We are also interested in speaking to potential members and network members who can see individual clients in person in the evenings or weekends, at our office or elsewhere in Cambridge.

If you are a counsellor or therapist who lives in or near Cambridge and you want to find out more about being a member or network member, get in touch by email or leave a message on our 24-hour telephone answer service.
